The call came in around 2:10 p.m. with four engines, the truck company and the shift commander responding.
Firefighters from Engine 5 and Engine 1 extinguished the fire in the 20-yard dumpster.
The Westport Fire Marshal’s office is investigating. Firefighters remind residents and businesses that dumpsters should be placed well away from a building during construction and to dispose of any burning material in the dumpster.
